From 2009 to TODAY
The chronicle of a Swiss-made cutting-edge sensor technology.

greenTEG at a glance

greenTEG AG develops, manufactures, and markets thermal sensors for heat flux and laser power/position measurements and provides consulting on the thermal integration of its products.

Today, greenTEG supplies OEMs as well as scientists in corporate and university labs around the world with its unique products. Over the last decade greenTEG has established itself as a reputable and trustworthy supplier in various industries.

Started in the Photonics industry, the company established an exclusive partnership with Thorlabs Inc. for the joint development and distribution of Thermal Optical Power Detectors which includes unmounted and mounted single-thermopile sensors, as well as mounted position detectors. Another end-user industry where greenTEG has established a market leader position is for thermal insulation monitoring in buildings.

Here greenTEG has launched several generations of so called U-value measurement devices which support the daily work of thousands of energy consultants, architects and insulation material manufacturers in their assessments of building structures.

Furthermore, greenTEG can also build upon a strong customer base in the R&D field, where new own product application ideas have been spotted in the past, such as the use of heatflux sensors for indirect temperature measurements, which has led to the development of greenTEGs wearables business line. Since 2020 we also started to directly market the CORE sensor to end customers in the sports and wellness segment.

Our Vision

We believe that IoT (Internet of Things) solutions will be essential in the future to improve the daily life by facilitating processes and workflow and optimizing time and energy consumption, as well as an enhancing the personalization of medical treatments and understanding of human health.

With its unique technology – CORE body temperature monitor, greenTEG created the first non-invasive wearable that allows for continuous core body temperature under real-life conditions with great accuracy.

This IoT-based wearable technology has been our entry point for the development of future technologies not only for Performance enhancement in Sports, but also for remote patient monitoring, Workplace Health and Safety, Sleep and Fertility tracking.

Our Mission

“Developing cutting-edge sensor technologies to support innovation for various industries, while building an exceptional workplace and company which serves employees and customers based upon our sustainability linked values.”

greenTEG was founded as GmbH in Zurich in 2009 as a spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH). The foundation of greenTEG technology – a scalable production process of heat flux sensors, was developed at CLA ETH Zurich and at the Chair of Micro- and Nanosystems.

First funding via convertible loan; in addition, greenTEG’s technology was granted several awards and prices, such as ClimateKIC, InnoSuisse, de Vigier, Top 100 Swiss Startups.

First expansion into new facilities at Technopark Zurich, office and production facilities expanded to +200m²; closing of greenTEG’s Seed round, three patents granted as well as several trademarks. R&D Heat-Flux sensor market entrance.

First gRAY® sensors sold to Thorlabs Inc – market leader and global manufacturer of photonics tools and systems, with a vast product portfolio of application from optics and opto-mechanical positioning components to imaging systems.

greenTEG enters the building insulation monitoring market with the launch of the gSKIN® U-Value KIT, with this step, greenTEG is having already 3 business units with solid sales.

Seed round closing – attracting investments from new and old investors. Entering with R&D, prototypes and business development into the wearable market for core body temperature monitoring

Stronger focus on new wearable business unit, with exhibitions at the Websummit, Swiss Medtech Day, etc. Start of exclusive partnership with Thorlabs Inc. in the business unit of Photonics.

Investment round to further grow the company and production capability, lead investments into business development for Core Body Temp technology.
